Statement Sums Involving Division
In statement sum we are given a statement. We have to analyse the statement and then take appropriate action.
Following steps are required to solve the statement
1. Read the statement carefully
2. Find the values that are given
3. Find the quantity which is required
4. Then perform the process to reach the desired result.
Let us consider the following example;
Shopkeeper has 40 packets and he can place 5 packets in a box. How many boxes are required to keep the packets?
1. We will first analyse the statement
2. We will find the values that are given
In the question it is given that
Shopkeeper has 40 packets and he can place 5 packets in a box.
Number of packets = 40
Number of packets in one box= 5
3. We will find the quantity which is required
In the question it is asked that
How many boxes are required to keep the packets?
To find number of packets
We will perform division as we are supposed to find the no. of boxes
Divide 40 by 5
We will perform the required operation
Answer = 8
Hence the answer is 8 boxes
Hence number of boxes are 8.
